Why are you offended: Let me challenge you.

It’s become a pretty regular thing for me, that if I find myself offended by someone I ask myself “why are you offended?” Usually it’s a way that exposes our own hearts towards sin we need to address, and that’s never fun to expose.

Let’s call these things insecurities.

Let me be the first to say that if you label yourself and say “it’s just my insecurities” maybe you should reflect on why you claim that in your life. Because those really just sound like excuses. Awhile back some one told me they felt judged by me because of how I live my life and how to them they don’t measure up, then said person continued with “Don’t you have insecurities about different parts of your life.” I paused in that moment because it was then I realized that I was talking with someone who was projecting their own issues with themselves onto me and my way of living and my passions and opinions had offended them (this sorta situation happens more often then you might think because I’m not an enabler and won’t be someone else just to please people).

Now what’s the point of that story? I tell you that because after I was asked that question I responded saying that I don’t have any insecurities. I have things that Christ is working through in my heart, but those aren’t insecurities, those aren’t things I use as an excuse to justify why I act a certain way. The moment you find yourself projecting your own heart issues onto someone else should be a little red flag to yourself to check your own heart.

I’m not here to people please or make you feel good all the time, so if you find something I share or post “offensive” or you get “triggered”, well ask yourself why first. It takes a lot of humility to not get “offended” or “triggered”, pride sure has a way of exposing itself. Let’s just say narcissists don’t like me very much.

So if you’re here reading my blog and following me this is what you’ll get…

I’m not here to enable you.
I’m not here to fuel drama.
I’m not here to be fake.
I’m not here go with the flow.

I’m here to make you think.
I’m here to question things.
I’m here you empower you to ask why.
I’m here to encourage you to look for Truth.

And you’ll find changing your mindsets in this area will also contribute to better boundaries which in turn help bring you more peace in living a simple life.

Here’s to pushing each other out of our comfort zones and being passionate about living and not caring what people think about you along the way.
