Easy to Make DIY Kids Muscle Rub

If you’re a mom of littles like me, you probably have been woken up in the middle of the night by screams caused by the discomfort of growing pains. These growing pains are oh so common with kids but that doesn’t mean our kids have to suffer from them night after night.

I was on the hunt for something that would help relieve the discomfort that my 4 year old was experiencing at night. Things like magnesium and CBD oil are excellent remedies as well, if you can get your child to take them that is. My son is pretty picky about taking things so I decided making a muscle rub would be the best bet. And it WORKED! He hasn’t woken up screaming in the middle of the night since we started using it.

You can check out my YouTube video for the entire step-by-step process below.

The recipe is SUPER simple. All you need is the following:

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup carrier oil (I used jojoba oil)
  • 1 1/2 T beeswax pellets
  • 25 drops of essential oils
  1. Melt your oils and beeswax in double boiler or heat safe bowl in a pan.
  2. Once melted, remove from heat and let sit for 3 mins to cool.
  3. Add essential oils and stir to combine.
  4. Pour into jar and let it cool completely before sealing.

I used Lavender, Marjoram, and Roman Chamomile for a nighttime muscle rub. If your child suffers from discomfort from growing pains during the day you can swap the Lavender Essential Oil for Tangerine Essential Oil.

You can find everything you need for the recipe at your local grocery store or you can find them on my amazon storefront here.

If you need to get your hands on some pure essential oils you can order those from me here.

This muscle rub has brought so much relief to my 4 year old, which brings me so much peace as a mom. Thankful for simple, clean, and cost effective options to support our kids growing bodies.
