In a world of complacent people, find your passions!

How often do you ask the question “why?”

Why do I have a certain opinion?
Why do I choose to do ____?
Why did I want ____?
Why is it ____ caused ____?
Why do I believe what I believe?
Why am I passionate about ____?

Asking “why?” can really teach you a lot about yourself. Kids ask why all the time because they are constantly learning and wanting to know the answer to what goes on around them. They want to know the reason for things. As adults we tend to forget that asking “why” is one of the most eye opening things we can do to grow and learn.

There was a season in my life where I stopped asking why and would say “ignorance is bliss!” When really that phrase should be “ignorance is foolish pride.” What is complacency after all? Definition: marked by self-satisfaction especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers or deficiencies.

Whenever I here someone start a sentence with
“Well, I’m just this way…”
“I just want to enjoy myself…”
“I don’t care about the side effects…”
“I do it because that’s how it’s always been done…”

Society says… It’s like that game Simon says that we played as kids, you do what you’re told and you’ll win, but if you don’t you’re out for good!

It’s like that with society, as soon as you don’t do what society says then you’re labeled a conspiracy theorist, crazy person, judgmental person. But as long as you follow society like a good little sheep you’ll go with the flow and won’t get tossed to the side for taking a stand.

Honestly, I’m so thankful I started asking “why” years ago to open my eyes to so much in this world. So much in my personal life.

And now, I push people to do the same.

Rocking the boat and encouraging you to dig a little deeper.

In the end, the choice will always be yours and you’ll have to take ownership for those choices eventually.

So

Where are my fellow boat rockers?
Those who always ask questions to grow, learn, and understand?
